The 139th New Oaks Stakes, held on the Suffolk Stakes course at Newmarket, took place on Thursday 2nd August 1917 and was won by Sunny Jane (4/1), by Sunstar out of Maid of the Mist trained by Alec Taylor jnr, who won by 1/2 a length in 2 mins 43.40 secs. The winner won £875 (Equivalent to £69,650 in 2017) and there were 11 runners.
